Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Everwhisker mobile application, everwhisker.com, meowpage.com, Meowpage publishing, and related services that link to this policy (collectively, the “Services”). A separate application, website, marketplace, or recipient you choose to use applies its own privacy policy to information it receives.

Everwhisker is an independently run personal hobby project, not a company. In this policy, “Everwhisker,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the project and its developer. The developer is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can contact us using the email address in section 14.

Private journal information

Depending on what you add, the app may store cat names and photos; birth, adoption, or memorial dates; breed, color, gender, personality, and favorites; journal entries, milestones, tags, and places you type; care details such as a microchip number, veterinary contact details, reminders, notes, and documents; contact or emergency details on a Cat ID card; an owner nickname or photo; saved Meowpage drafts; preferences; and journal-lock settings. Everwhisker does not send this private journal information to its own online service unless you deliberately publish selected content or contact us about it. Your device backup may include a copy if backup is enabled.

Information you choose to publish

A Meowpage profile may include a cat’s public name, archive ID, portrait, story, birthday or age, breed, coat or color, gender, personality, favorite things, and living or memorial status. An owner nickname is shown when you turn on the public owner section. If a previously published owner photo exists, it stays visible until you replace it, turn off that section, or unpublish the profile.

Information used to manage a published profile

When you first open Meowpage publishing or redeem an access code, the app creates a random private publishing reference without asking for your name or email. It uses that reference and a private cat reference to check and manage your profile. Neither reference is displayed on Meowpage. The publishing reference is kept by the app but is not restored by an Everwhisker journal backup.

Purchase information

Your app marketplace handles payment. The app may contact it to check whether Premium is available or already unlocked, not only when you press Buy. The marketplace may tell the app what was bought, its status and date, and provide proof needed to unlock or restore Premium. Everwhisker does not receive your complete card or bank details. Deleting your journals does not cancel or remove the purchase.

Access-code information

If you choose to redeem a code supplied by Everwhisker, the app sends that code and its private installation reference to our service to check and manage access. We keep the reference, an access-record identifier, the code version, the date access was granted, and whether it is active or revoked. The entered code is checked but is not saved in those records or request logs. This does not send your private journal or photos. The app keeps a separate access confirmation on your device so it can work offline, and checks its status again when connected. Code access is separate from marketplace purchases and is not included in an Everwhisker journal backup.

Website visits, safety, and support

When you use our websites or another online feature, we may receive basic information needed to provide and protect it, such as the date and time of a visit, pages requested, general device type, approximate area, and reports of errors or misuse. If you contact us, we receive the contact details, message, and files you choose to send.

Information shown by device features

If you use the home-screen widget or care reminders, a cat’s name, photo, memory title, or due date may appear outside the app on your device. Your device settings control notification previews. If you use face, fingerprint, or device unlock, your device performs the check and Everwhisker receives only whether it succeeded.

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

• provide, maintain, and improve features you request;
• save private content and preferences on your device;
• publish, display, update, share, and remove Meowpage profiles you choose;
• confirm purchases and restore paid access;
• validate access codes and manage code-based access;
• respond to support, privacy, and security requests;
• prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents; and
• comply with law and enforce our Terms of Use.

Where the law asks us to explain why we may use information, the reasons are to provide a service you requested; your consent when you choose to make something public; our reasonable need to keep the Services safe and reliable; and our duty to follow the law. If we rely on consent, you may withdraw it later. We do not use computers to make decisions about you that have legal or similarly serious effects.

Private journal information is saved within the app on the device where you create it. Your device’s own backup service may make a copy when device backup is enabled and applies its own privacy terms to that copy. You are responsible for protecting your device and any backup or exported file. Uninstalling the app, clearing its data, or losing the device may permanently remove information that has not been backed up.

An Everwhisker backup may contain your journal text, original photos, drafts, care information, and attached documents. It is not protected by a separate backup password, so keep it in a private, trusted location. Saved or shared exports go to the place or person you choose, and your device may keep a temporary copy until it clears temporary files.

When you export or share, you choose the destination. The selected recipient or service will process its copy under its own terms and privacy policy. Everwhisker cannot control a copy after it leaves the app.

Creating or saving a Meowpage draft does not make it public. Before publishing, the app shows the selected cat and optional owner information and asks you to press Publish. Removing an owner photo from the draft does not remove a photo that is already public while the owner section remains on. Replace the photo, turn off that section, or unpublish the profile to remove it.

The ability to update or unpublish a profile is normally linked to the app installation that published it. Uninstalling the app, clearing its data, or changing devices may remove that access. Unpublish first when possible, or contact us if you need help with a profile you can no longer manage in the app.

Once published, selected content can be viewed, copied, shared, saved by anyone, or appear in search results. You can update or unpublish the profile through the app, but removing it from Meowpage cannot erase copies already made by other people or independent websites and search services. Publish only content you have the right to share, and do not include sensitive personal information in a public story.

Our websites do not use tracking for advertising or visitor analytics. Companies that deliver and protect the websites still receive the basic visit information described in section 2. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

We do not sell personal information, rent it to third parties, or share it so other companies can target advertising to you.

Information may be disclosed only in these circumstances:

• public profile information is available to visitors because you chose to publish it;
• companies that deliver and protect the websites, confirm online publishing access, store and show public profile photos, process marketplace purchases, or provide email and support may receive only the information needed for their work;
• a recipient or service you choose receives information through an export, share, or platform feature;
• information may be disclosed when required by law or a lawful request;
• information may be used or disclosed to protect rights and safety or keep the Services working safely; or
• if responsibility for the project changes, information may be transferred so the Services can continue, subject to this policy and applicable law.

Private journal information remains within the app until you edit or delete it, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app. Deleting a cat or every journal does not automatically remove a public Meowpage, copies in backups or exports, the proof used to restore a purchase, journal-lock settings, or the private publishing reference. Unpublish each public profile separately before deleting its local journal when possible. Copies held by your device backup, a person you shared with, or another service remain until you or that service removes them.

A Meowpage profile remains public until it is updated or unpublished. Unpublishing removes it from the active archive and begins removal of its public images. It may take a reasonable time for every public copy under our control to disappear. We currently keep a hidden copy of the profile details and the reference showing who may manage it so the profile can be managed or published again, to prevent misuse, resolve disputes or errors, enforce our terms, and comply with law. There is no automatic deletion date for that hidden record. Contact us if you want to request its deletion.

A deleted moment is hidden immediately and may be kept for at least 24 hours so Undo can work. It is permanently removed after that when the app next cleans its storage.

Access-code records remain separate from your journals. We keep active records to provide access and revoked records to prevent a revoked grant from being activated again. There is no automatic deletion date for these records. Deleting a journal or uninstalling the app does not delete them from our service. Contact us to request deletion; removing a record may affect our ability to provide or manage code-based access.

Security, support, and communication records are retained only for as long as needed for their purpose. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, remove identifying details, or keep it separately with restricted access when the law requires us to retain it.

We take reasonable steps to protect information against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, and improper changes or disclosure. We limit access to people and companies that need it for an authorized purpose, and we review the Services for misuse and reliability problems. No device or online service can guarantee absolute security.

Protect your device with a passcode, keep its operating system updated, safeguard exports and backups, and avoid publishing sensitive information. Contact us promptly if you believe your information or the Services may have been compromised.

The app provides controls to view, correct, export, and delete locally stored content, and to review, update, or unpublish a Meowpage profile. You can also deny or revoke device permissions in system settings, although related features may then stop working.

Depending on where you live, you may ask what personal information we have and how we use or share it; ask us to correct or delete it; receive a copy; ask us to stop or limit some uses; withdraw consent; or complain to a privacy regulator. Where local law provides them, you may also have rights concerning a sale, sharing for targeted advertising, or certain uses of sensitive information. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

To make a request, contact us using the email address below. We may need to verify your identity or authority. Applicable rights can vary by location and may be subject to lawful exceptions. We will not treat you unfairly for exercising an applicable privacy right. Because Everwhisker does not receive your private journal, we generally cannot retrieve or delete that information for you. You must manage copies held on your device or in its backup settings yourself.

Companies that help us provide online features or support may handle information in a country other than the one where you live. We require them to protect it wherever it is handled. Where required, we put additional legal protections in place. You may contact us for more information.

The Services are not directed to children under 13 or the higher minimum age required where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from a child below the applicable age, and we do not ask users to enter their age. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, remove it.

We may update this policy when our practices, Services, or legal obligations change. The revised policy will appear here with a new “last updated” date. We will provide additional notice before an important change takes effect when required by law.
